Matsubara Lake Plateau is surrounded by a rich forest at the foot of Kitayatsugatake. It is a resort where you can enjoy camping from spring to autumn and fishing for smelt in winter.

Spot ① The biggest sea in the Koumi(small Sea) “Lake Matsubara”

Point of interest. The lake is surrounded by primeval forest and the Yatsugatake mountain range towering behind it is as beautiful as a postcard. You can enjoy a relaxing time such as taking a leisurely walk around the lakeside shrines or relaxing on a boat. In winter, the lake is frozen. Smelt fishing on the ice is famous, and it is a typical winter taste.

Spot ② Feels exactly like Yahoo! “Yatsuho no Yu hot spring”

Point of interest. One-day hot spring bathing in a variety of hot springs, including a superb view of the Yatsugatake mountain range in front of you, a sauna, and a bedrock bath. The smooth hot water is also known as a type of hot water that helps create beautiful skin. At the restaurant, you can taste homemade soba, local vegetables such as plateau vegetables, and mushrooms.

Spot (3) “ Koumimachi Kogen Museum”, a modern building close to the plateau

Point of interest. An art museum designed by Tadao Ando, ​​located at the foot of Yatsugatake, Matsubara Lake Plateau. The space in harmony with the surrounding nature gives us an environment for getting close to art. The collection is centered on the work of Tatsuzo Shimaoka, a ceramic artist and Kesao Kurimabashi artist from Koumi Town.

Kikyoya

A long-established restaurant that has been around since the Taisho era. In front of Koumi Station, you can say that you have walked with the Koumi Line. The oldest sauce recipe of this region, Sauce Katsudon, is a sweet and perfect for cutlets and rice. Simple “ramen noodles” is also a popular dining choice, and the dining room is where you can enjoy the traditional taste.
